Week 9

For week 9, we chose which solo work we would do, and i went with the audio piece. Since i did the audio advert at week 8, it was really easy for me to record and edit the audio piece. I talked about what climate change is, what the reason is for it to happen, and how to prevent it.

Week 6

In week 6, with everyone’s help, we put down all the Mystery Card icons, trap blocks and spinners. I suggested we should add some walls in order to make it harder for the player to get to some blocks, and everyone agreed on it. The prototype board game was ready. After 1.30 hours of playing, I told the team that we should make some changes, like making the area effects more punishing.

Week 5

Week 5 was more straightforward, since everyone in the team knew what to do. My job was to make some temporary Mystery and Quiz cards. I had to cut symmetrically some paper and then write down all the actions and questions. There were 50 cards in total. I also finished with the rule book and printed it out.

Week 4

In week 4 we had so much work to do. After doing my research at week 3, i suggested we should add some “Mystery Cards”. When you land on them, you have to do whatever the card says. Sometimes it can help the player like giving them 5 steps to move foward, and some others can be bad for them, like moving back to the beginning. With Molly’s help we made all these card “actions”, 15 good cards and 15 bad.

I also made a basic rule book, doing some balancing so that the game can be more fair for everyone. Lastly, since we made our social media pages, I talked with the other groups in order to follow each other’s pages.

Weeks 1 and 2

Weeks 1 and 2 were about coming up with our board game idea and some researching. After finding many different game ideas I ended up using a Yugi-oh style. The idea was that nature would fight against humanity (factories, cars) and whoever got their health points to 0 first would lose. The game would be played with 3 types of cards, monsters, spells, and trap cards.

Rules

After making some basic rules about the game with the team, i further enhanced them by making it easier for the player to understand them and start playing fast. i did some balancing with the area and trap block effects as well in order to make it harder for the player to get the keys.
